Unable to claim Animals

This has happened to me a few times today, and as far as I remember it has never happened before. I was doing the grey wolf missions today and got stuck on the one where I had to heart shot a dark grey male with the .270. I shot one, but when I immediately went to pick it up, I couldn't harvest him or select his tracks. I got back in the tree stand, shot a female not 2 minute's later with an arrow and collected her fine. Shot a second male with the .270, couldn't harvest him.

At this point I closed my game and started a new hunt. This seemed to fix the issue as I went to harvest more wolves and other animals. Then, during my last hunt, I shot a female with an arrow, got lung and tracked her, but couldn't harvest her again. All three times I tried different angles, running out of render and back again, and nothing. Has anyone else run into this issue? So far for me this has only happened with the wolves.

It's a common problem with dall sheep, more than with any other species.

Grey wolves are the ones giving me this grief lately.
To me it happens when I take my time to go track a wounded one. Can't harvest them even if they died within render, and getting out of render and back doesn't help.

In the last couple of days I have not been able to harvest a grey wolf on at least 3 different hunts, but I think 4 hunts. It is getting worse.

I have killed them all with the new 7x64 and then couldn't harvest them even though the HunterMate is beeping when I hover over them. The blood splatters and trails register ok. Only one wolf per hunt so far, and always after a real time hour in the hunt.

Had the issue with a bison too, but this time I was able to fix it by walking out of the render distance.

16-17 75-90kg Wolf (and a dark one!), and I can't claim it.
I was trying to kill it for the Werewolf comp, missed the heart but got a lung. He ran for less than 100m; can't claim him for nothing.

He was so dead even Doc couldn't claim him.
