"Note: No crash code when this has happened, screen just freezes up and when I open task manager the game is no longer running as active app but rather a background process. The game then has to be terminated via task manager from the background process or trying to relaunch returns 16007 (game already running). In both cases all record of hunt lost." Borrowed from Deconstructed as it fits like a "T".

Update:
Just ran a new game for 2hrs with ZERO issues. Whiterime Ridge 2016-02-10 20:00 UTC - 2016-02-10 22:09 UTC Multi kills and harvests. Update 2. Still no issues. Several more played. Game runs fine now. Will experiment more at some point but happy just playing right now.

Turned off GeForce "Shadow Play" and Steam "Overlay". Also set game setting Anisotropic to 1x. All other conditions were the same. Seems to have solved my problem.

Edition: Windows 10
Version: 1511
OS Build: 10586.104
Processor: Intel Core i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
Ram: 16.0 GB
System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Audio: Realtek High Definition Audio
GPU: GeForce GTX 960M (2.0 GB Ram)

Does this happen in SP - MP? MP

- If MP, are you host or client? Host, only player.

What version of the game do you currently have? Steam

How often does this happen? All in valentine comps. Two when switch to the in game options menu and the last two while trying to harvest artic foxes. Length of hunt doesn't seem to be a factor. No error code. Must restart computer. Game is ongoing till new game started.

Tried different drivers for your graphic card? No

What have you tried to do in order to get past the problem? Turned off GeForce "Shadow Play" and Steam "Overlay". Also set game setting Anisotropic to 1x. All other conditions were the same.

What do you think causes the crash? One or all of above.

Steps to reproduce, what did you do before it crashed? Turn on GeForce "Shadow Play" and Steam "Overlay". Also set game setting Anisotropic to 16x.

I've had the same thing going on many times lately. I hesitated to report it here because I didn't get the "16005", so I'm glad you reported it. A couple of times it just quit when I either went to inventory or the map...but it didn't happen like that every time.
I have never had so many problems as I've had since these last 2 updates. I read about people getting the "16005" code so many times right after WRR opened up. I had one here & there, but altogether, very few. Now, I am losing most of my hunts no matter what reserve I'm on.
Hopefully, HOPEFULLY there will be an update this week that I can download without using Steam & get rid of these "16005" crashes.

And another...
right after Tp on my tent (50 min hunting)
I realized that all my purchased tents are useless in these circumstances, and of course, can't hope finish a competition with a good place in ladder

Does this happen in SP - MP? Multiplayer.
- If MP, are you host or client? Client.
What version of the game do you currently have? The.. newest?
How often does this happen? Pretty much every hunt that lasts more than a hour is bound to crash at one point. It seems random, it can happen after an hour, or two hours, but it will crash at some point.
Tried different drivers for your graphic card? No.
What have you tried to do in order to get past the problem? Being annoyed apparently didnt fix it.
What do you think causes the crash? I have no idea whatsoever. If im to blame anything, i'll blame the game because i dont know what else i should blame.
Steps to reproduce, what did you do before it crashed? I played the game and shot animals like im supposed to.

crashing for me all the time too.
but i found a little workaround.

if i start it in Fullscreen in 16:9 3840x2160 or in 21:9 3840x1645: it crashes as soon as i view the map or go into inventory
if i do the same, then press alt+enter (goes into borderless window mode): it is playable. it will still crash after 1-2 hours with gamecode 16005 when harvesting an animal with the huntermate :(
i'd say 1 out of 8 times harvesting, it crashes

Does this happen in SP - MP? Both
- If MP, are you host or client? Client
What version of the game do you currently have? Steam up to Date
How often does this happen? Frequent - will crash 10-20% of the time when he picks up a trophy.
Tried different drivers for your graphic card? Yes (currently 361.91)
What have you tried to do in order to get past the problem? Have tried alt+enter. disabling steam overlay.
What do you think causes the crash? Poorly written graphics code. using 4k in fullscreen triggers a complete freeze right after opening the map, or the inventory. jesus christ it's 2016. 4k is not uncommon anymore. fix all the "historic" code, and you will end up much more stable!
Steps to reproduce, what did you do before it crashed? Opened map. Picked up trophy. 10-20% chance of crash
as for the 4k bug. start it in 4k fullscreen, open the map, craaaaash

Strychnine wrote:So I've been playing with settings.

I've seen a direct correlation with the "Complexity" setting. On high mine crashes every hour. Medium, not a peep.

Not sure that's helpful, but what I've found so far.
This may work for some. It has cut down my # of crashes by over half. I found it out through a friend who I hunt with most of the time, then saw your post.
