Sambar Deer Scent Spray

Post by HD_Artworks »

Hi, everyone.

So, the Sambar Deer Scent Spary is finally released.
https://www.thehunter.com/#store/item/841

I didn't try it yet.

Did you guys try it? Does it work well? The range is the same as other sprays?

Thanks.

Well, I went to PB and test it and did a UHC mission and it works as it should.
I heard the first Sambar in about 180m away and I crouch until I reach to about ~150m. I use the scent spray but the Sambar was roaming fast and he didn't lure by it.
I try to get close to him and I heard another call from him in about 100m away. I use the spray again and I see he start coming to the sprayed spot.

The second one was about ~150m from me and I sprayed at about ~140m. After few seconds, I heard a footsteps and I see him in my left!

So, the Spray works great, but, IMO, the effective range should be more than 150m because the Sambar is more skittish than the other deers in the game and they have more powerful sense of smell.
IMO, 170m or 180m would be better!

And some compensation for the insane roaming speed would be nice.
I will try it now.

So far it seems to be working ;)
Also range is definitly below render range.

whew!!! Good to know.
I hope that is the official stance from some insight or contact you have with the DEV's, I really don't want to risk it finding out later I've been duped.
But, I am not looking forward to avatars hugging trees on every hill & in every valley either.

How long is the Sambar deer scent spray active?
I think a player would want to stay in that area until the scent dissipated.
I mean... just as you walk away and are no longer around another deer comes in range of it and comes to the scent if it's still active.
I'd like to see a Sambar Caller also as most of the other deer types have one to call them into the immediate area.
These deer like to j hook after spooked, and make big circles and do oval roaming if they're not spooked,
last night I took a few just staying in the same vicinity and cutting them off at the pass (so to speak) on their return roamimg, just listening for them of course and watching them
on the hunter mate. My eyesight can hardly detect them in the middle of the day when they bed, but if you can distinguish their colors amongst the foliage it's an easy way
to sneak up on them and put them to sleep for good. So I can see how this scent could work to your advantage with a bow in a tree stand once your in their area they're using.

As far as I know all scents last for 20 in-game minutes, so I guess the Sambar scent spray should be the same. The range of 150 meters is okay in my opinion, that's the trade-off for the longer duration/attraction compared to callers.
