9.3X 62 vs 8X57
Why is the 9.3X62 not legal for water buffalo but is for banteng? And the 8X57 is for both.
Water buffalo is bigger than the banteng.

Re: 9.3X 62 vs 8X57
I've just shot a water buffalo with the 8x57 and had unpermitted kill? it clearly states that the 8x57 is permitted for the water buffalo, so what's that all about, my first kill and it gets unpermitted.

Re: 9.3X 62 vs 8X57
Alena said that it’s not allowed, but they made a mistake and showed that the 8x57 is allowed in the shop page.
But i don’t know anything about the 9.3x62
It will be fixed soon i think

The 9.3x62, 8x57, and 7mm Magnum are all calibers that are excellent for buffalos, but for some reason has been excluded in the allowed list here. I hope they made an honest mistake, otherwise it's really disappointing.

9.3x62 Anschütz 1780 D FL Bolt Action Rifle is a bigger caliber then a 340 Weatherby I think that the latter is allowed. Very ... strange.

Re: 9.3X 62 vs 8X57
Not permitting the 7mm seems wrong.
American bison (from wiki):
"Weights can range from 318 to 1,000 kg (701 to 2,205 lb).Typical weight ranges in the species were reported as 460 to 988 kg (1,014 to 2,178 lb) in males and 360 to 544 kg (794 to 1,199 lb) in females, the lowest weights probably representing typical weight around the age of sexual maturity at 2 to 3 years of age"
Water buffalo:
"They range in weight from 300–550 kg (660–1,210 lb), but weights of over 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) have also been observed.[1]"
Seems the bison is on average bigger or at least similarly sized, yet the 7mm wont' work for water buffalo?
Please change this!
Reserve is very cool so far tho! Love the thunder/lightning!

Re: 9.3X 62 vs 8X57
Bullet diameter and animal weight are not everything.
The Water Buffalo is "tougher" than the Bison. For example, elk are tougher than moose on average, even though they are smaller.
I guess the thought in allowing the .340 was, that it's a really big old cartridge (that sucker hurts what is on both ends approx. equally) and has similar energy levels to a .375H&H at higher speeds.
The 9,3x62 is still a very adequate caliber for water buffalo. Heck, even though it was designed for plains game, a lot of German big game hunters shot all of their buffalo with 9,3x62 and 9,3x74R.

Re: 9.3X 62 vs 8X57
Looks like the .300 was taken off the list for Water Buffalo.
Currently, the only weapons that will kill a water buffalo ethically are the .45-70's, the .340, .454, .50 conical, and all the bows and crossbows except the cable backed bow, and longbow.

I also thought the 9.3x62 would be fine. Maybe they should rethink a few of these. Actually allow weapons that work and are used in real life.
