Camping Supplies are bad for the game
How about we just remove Camping supplies from the game all together.
Without camping supplies there would be no spawn mashing as that method seems to be the way a lot of people farm the new animal Bobcat.
Instead of normally hunting they spawn at lodge or tent then use camping supplies to travel to another tent where animals are around them less than 20m away sometimes even right next to you without even moving when you start up a game, I personally think it's breaking the game as that's not how the game should be played.
Your thoughts?

Re: Camping Supplies are bad for the game
IMO, removing camping supplies at this stage of the game would be ridiculous. As a consumable item it's one of the chief drainers of gm$ out of the system, and has to be one of the top overall sellers.
I don't like it that people cheese the system for bobcats, but at the same time, what does it matter right now? There are no competitions for them yet, and when there are, they'll have attempt limits. I'll hunt them the way I enjoy hunting them & others can do the same.

@ Hawkeye
I can see that removing camping supplies now would be a bit silly but it's making this game become what it shouldn't be.
This problem isn't just for Bobcats though, seems to be quite a popular method regardless what animal because it's the fastest way to get kills without even hunting in a hunting simulator game.
Don't get me wrong stand hunting is fine it's just I think you should at least move up to your equipment to hunt.

Re: Camping Supplies are bad for the game
How about this idea then...
When you start up a game make it so your fast travel timer in on cooldown straight away. (15mins I think it is)
We can still keep the camping supplies then.

This is a good idea, but it is 30 minutes real time, and should be all of that.Ravenousfox wrote:How about this idea then...

NEW RULES -
1. No fast-travelling for one in-game hour after starting a game.
2. Fast-travelling after a fall or freezing to death during cooldown is only allowed to lodges, not tents.
3. Fast-travelling spooks all animals within render, just like starting a game.

Re: Camping Supplies are bad for the game
I don't want fast traveling to be removed, but I understand that fast traveling to a tent (no matter if at the start of a hunt or during a hunt) and "landing" right on top of an animal is unrealistic. If we had a spook radius of, say, 50-100 meters around a tent that I'm traveling to, this would be fine imo. But if we want this kind of realism, then we would also need a 50 meter spook radius when entering or leaving a tower or tree stand if you ask me - and a lot of bait setups would have to be changed then.
Even though I understand the idea behind this suggestion, it's probably not the best idea to do change such a game mechanic at this point.

Re: Camping Supplies are bad for the game
Removing camping supplies completely would create such a storm. People would demand refunds of their tents and it would most likely turn off a lot of people to the game. I like a long walk as much as anyone, and I like to have hunted the animal down, but I suspect fast traveling is a strategy lots of players use because it suits them, and that's how they want to play the game.
I would be fine with spooking being implemented at the destination tent, and with an initial 30 minute delay before being able to use camping supplies. I use fast traveling to cover distance but I often feel it's a bit unfair to land next to animals (sometimes trophy animals). When it happens I feel a tiny bit dishonest, like I didn't really earn it. Just like when you find an animal stuck in the trees. That being said, I still shoot them, so I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say it's not sometimes fun.
I understand that in competitions, tents make a difference. I guess all you can do is join in and benefit from the same advantage, because I really doubt a mechanic so firmly established is likely to be altered, let alone removed.

I don't think that we should be spooking everything near a tent when people fast travel, in multi-player this could cause a lot of frustration for some players.

Re: Camping Supplies are bad for the game
I agree that camping supplies are here to stay, and let's face it those people who pay money for items (sometimes a small fortune) and keep the game financed should get a slight advantage over those who pay little or nothing, otherwise there would be no point in getting items, sales would crash, the Scot would be unemployed and there would be no game at all.
Every game that I have ever played has worked this way but in theHunter the trade off/balance between the advantage of players who pay and not is definetly better than in any game I have played in till now.
PAY PEANUTS YOU GET MONKEYS........

I guess David would have to live on food stamps if it weren't for his job at EW.Schlachtwolf wrote:otherwise there would be no point in getting items, sales would crash, the Scot would be unemployed and there would be no game at all.
