Re: Rain in RB while duck hunting.
Oh yes it is much louder in game than in video. I recorded in multiple wound tracks hoping to isolate the sound, but it is only 1 track, so how in the world did this happen without completely changing the sound file?
They have been asked thousands of time to turn down the rain noise, and the rain, and what do they do... but of course, make it totally unbearable.

Since I've worked a lot with sound files this sounds to me like it is just a simple loop file repeating the noise at the end of the short recording.
This could be taken care of with a better sound editor that usually doesn't keep this end track or you can cut it out and even up the beginning and the end of the track volume so it blends in and will sound a lot better without noise clipping.

If that is the case, it must be a very short recording, because it is continuous when it rains in RB.gas56 wrote:Since I've worked a lot with sound files this sounds to me like it is just a simple loop file repeating the noise at the end of the short recording.

They usually are, that way they don't use much memory.INTIMID883R wrote:If that is the case, it must be a very short recording, because it is continuous when it rains in RB.gas56 wrote:Since I've worked a lot with sound files this sounds to me like it is just a simple loop file repeating the noise at the end of the short recording.

Sorry you caught me before I could show you what a loop file looks like.
I re-edited my post and stuck an example for you to see what they look like in a wave editor.
A lot of games use these small files, but BH2003 used long ones for their ambient loop files. They were like around 5 minutes long then they repeat themselves, or called a continuous loop.
Most newer game Loop files can be anywhere from 5-20 seconds long for rain, wind, river, lakeshore, and even mixed in with animal noises with the ambient loop sound files.
3 or more different rain loop files can be used, light rain, medium rain, and hard rain. Even rain with strong wind.
You name it and it can be done.

I hear the sound of ducks in Hirsch as well. Has anyone else heard the clomping sound at WRR when you are in the trees? It sounds like a T-Rex from Primal.

OK I can see that, so what your saying is that they have someone working on sound files that has no clue as to what they are doing. Why are they messing with sound files anyway. The new breathing sound is utterly ridiculas. The rain needs turning down not made louder, and it needs it everywhere, not just RB. Geese don't sound like Geese anymore. Glad I don't hear the honking when sitting in stand hunting other animals, but still should sound like a goose.gas56 wrote:They usually are, that way they don't use much memory.INTIMID883R wrote:If that is the case, it must be a very short recording, because it is continuous when it rains in RB.gas56 wrote:Since I've worked a lot with sound files this sounds to me like it is just a simple loop file repeating the noise at the end of the short recording.

Totally agree with you. When we thought that rain sound can't get any worse EW proved we all were very wrong. Don't like any of new sounds (maybe just need to get use to it). Either EW sound guy has no idea what he/she is doing or has some serious hearing problems.INTIMID883R wrote:OK I can see that, so what your saying is that they have someone working on sound files that has no clue as to what they are doing. After today's update, you can think again about the part in bold.
Am seriously wondering if this boat we are in has a rudder because nobody seems to be steering it.

Yep Just checked them out. Hirsh can go back on the list of reserves not to hunt. and they still don't sould like geese. And the breathing sound is still utterly ridiculas, and the rain on RB is still full of frogs or ducks or static or a bad loop or something. There is no hope.

Re: Rain in RB while duck hunting.
I can now add that the ducks make a din of hell? Now when they are located hundreds of meters from us seems to have them on the head, it has become very difficult to understand where they're coming from, and if there are more flights in the sky is only chaos and all that singing only produces disorientation ... really difficult to hunt in these conditions, please ask some staff member to open a game in RB and check if what I say is just a useless complaint or if I'm saying what really happens ... I hope you do it soon and that can be remedied.
