Is worth 20 GA Semi-auto Shotgun?
That's the question.
Is worth buying 20 GA semi-auto Shotgun instead 12 GA Side by Side Shotgun?
Fire rate of these weapons:
12 GA SxS:
2 shots in 0.2 sec.
3 shots in 3.67 sec.
4 shots in 3.87 sec.
5 shots in 7.34 sec.
6 shots in 7.54 sec
20 GA semi-auto:
2 shots in 0.57 sec.
3 shots in 1.13 sec.
4 shots in 5.07 sec.
5 shots in 5.63 sec.
6 shots in 6.20 sec.
SxS shotgun hits four shots in ~3.9 seconds. Semi-auto requires 5 seconds.
I think semi-auto Shotgun is not worth for the money. (only it's permitted for small animals)
The SxS shotgun can do the same job for less money. (for all animals)
What do you think about it?

The semi auto is alot of fun.I really did not notice much difference between it or a 12 gauge when bird hunting but I have not used it since the birdshot was changed.

1st and best shotgun to own is the 12 GA Pump Action Shotgun . that is the best. after that its just preference.
the 20 GA Semi-Automatic Shotgun is fun but overall worse than 12 GA because of the amount of shells you can shoot without reloading.

I think that you are skewing results a little. For example, when I use my 20, I generally fire three, reload 1, and engage. In general, after 4 shots the birds are getting to be at range where you have diminishing returns, and I'd rather wait 5-10 minutes for the next batch then to decrease my body count.charlie77 wrote:That's the question.

I haven't found an animal yet that the 20 GA is my preferred choice for. Fast shooting isn't an argument if those shots are weak and the gun need more adjustment after every shot. At least this is what I am seeing.

I used it for Mallards when it first came out, but it's limited capacity and lower ammunition strength just makes the other shotguns much better.

If the 20 Ga had the plug removed thus a 5 round capacity, that would be much different (and make the semi-auto function worthwhile). I do ok with it.

Re: Is worth 20 GA Semi-auto Shotgun?
Since the update to the shotguns I don't feel the 12 is that much more powerful than the 20 - Before it was obvious but now the performance gap is much smaller.
My own feeling is, I would have been just fine having never bought it but until you try it you don't know. As for a follow up shot you can't beat the speed of the Blazer O/U - you can fire 2 shots almost instantly
For me, it has no advantage in any situation I can think of.

I like the 20 GA because of the 3 shot limit. You only can use 3 in real life and I enjoy the added realism I feel like I am cheating when I'm using a shotty with 6 shots in it on ducks/geese
