An Update to my previous postings on the Update

So having rested and chatted with a few other old folks I thought I would post a small update to address some perhaps overly critical language in my last posts. As a fellow old guy said to me "It should always be clear that you are trying to highlight not heckle." In the spirit of clarity I will try again to express my experience and results with the Halloween update, let me preface these by saying I understand pleasing a large group of people of varying conditions is tough and that I appreciate the work the devs do. Sometimes being a grumpy old man can make me seem overly harsh which is not my intention. I extend this revised review with the appreciation of an older client, take from it what you will.

First, we should discuss the atmosphere of the event which contains 4 parts with those being Music, background sounds, creatures, and visuals. The music is I will give the barest review as to be fair I always run games with it off. I turned it on for a bit and watched a few streams which had it audible. It seemed that the parts were fine for what they were being used for if a bit short perhaps. Other than that since I don't use it I will move on.

This brings us to background sounds added for the event which seem to be comprised of a loud and constant wind effect with a few background tones. This gave me quite a bit of trouble until I discovered that the "washout" effect is strongest at low volume, the answer to my issue was to turn it up and use headphones. I understand your intention was that combined with the music it would be more "atmospheric" but in case people don't combine them may I suggest next year slightly more varied pitch and tone as well as intensity to the wind. This leads me to jump to visuals as alternating sound/wind intensity with fog intensity may be more effective.

Now visuals were my big gripe initially and perhaps my harshest criticism previously. Having spoken to a few folks here is an old guys manner of dealing with the effects. First I gamma'ed down in game, then I adjusted the contrast on my monitor, and then used the yellow sunglasses. As a result I saw the first swirling currents in the fog and gained almost 20 meters of visual range, though I must admit it likely was about equal to what the young folks saw initially. Also, I had a few odd flashes of bright light, usually yellow before using the glasses, while walking the grass areas. On later hunts I found a pumpkin in 1 or 2 of them so there may be a small visual glitch near unused spawn points for the pumpkins. The spider webs were very "haunted house" style and if that is the effect you wanted you hit it true and sure. I might suggest a little more variation would go a long way, perhaps some strands of webbing between trees or a cocooned animal instead of the normally downed elk would help the atmosphere.

Now we come to creatures and for that I will give full marks to the devs with 1 caveat; perhaps the werewolf sounds when moving could be slightly less raspy? I hear them breathing a long time before I hear them moving and maybe those sound should be a little more equal? The sounds themselves are effective and clear and the model is good, it moves well when shot, smoothly leaping back and its changes from walking upright to running on all fours were clean and fast as well for me.

With the changes to my settings I managed to get mission 3 down and now need to spot the beast. I think I will be able to get this down in the time allowed now where before I wasn't sure I could. SO my thanks to the community members who extended their counsel and support and to the Devs who do their best to satisfy a large and varied group of folks. Including the odd old gamer or two.

lol after 2nd mission, 3 mission was easy for me and 4th and 5th its joke :D Nice bcz 2nd mission make me crazy...

Missions done, occasionally frustrating but mostly enjoyed. Great set up and atmosphere. Big +1 for the silver bullets next year. "The Beast must die"- I'm off for a Werewolf break.

Missions done... 2nd mission was my hardest. Rest easy. Thx, after 2nd mission i enjoy whole pack.

Just out of curiosity, at what point are you shooting the bear? If you shoot it when it stands up on its hind legs, chances are it won't count. In my experience it has to be running toward you, in the final stages of the attack.
Hi Caledonianblues, thanks for your attention.
I knew what my problem was. My pc is old and when I meet the bears with the new graphics it slows down a lot. I fired him a little over 4 m while he was attacking me but he did not calculate it for a few times. After a few attempts with my big enthusiasm, gave it to me and I could continue to the end. I really liked this event and I want to compliment you for the fantastic idea. Involvement and horror have escorted me for the duration of all missions ... really nice.
Just to give you some more information:
My laptop is a pavilion with 4gb ram, intel centr. duo and nvidia geforce 9600M gt.

I realize that it's been a while since I could hunt but at some point after hours being in TGT I should come across even an unqualified bull Elk for mission 2...

I'm all over the east and not a sight, sound or track but for two flees from another hunter spooking them my way a couple of days ago...

I'm using the yellow glasses so visibility is good.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is my first chance for the Halloween Hunts as last year the Winter reserve release left us XP users dead in the water.

Ever since this new update, I can't enter my trophy lodge without the game crashing
