I had never had any problems with climbing mini game. Never fell once. But I know some players do find it difficult and it could be very annoying for them. So I don't have any problems if I have to climb in new reserve. Will do it once, place the tents to save the time and thats it. Having said that Im not a big fan of climbing too as it has nothing to do with hunting.TheSpecter wrote:Just out of curiosity, will the new reserve involve climbing? Would be a bummer to indulge in anticipation for a reserve, that would be a non-starter from my point of view. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but the climbing already pretty much ruined VdB for me, and I'd rather not have that happen to another reserve. Especially not such a beautiful one, the screenshots are looking fantastic - hats off to the team. Would be interesting btw to know whether I'm the only one loathing the climbing feature, so feedback would be welcome.
To avoid misunderstandings, I do not object against the need of buing climbing gear, that's fine by me. What I actually don't like, to say the least, is the "mini game". Of course, I do understand the business side of it - selling first aid packs. Maybe a second type of climbing gear could be created, one that's more expensive than the standard issue, but will get you up without the "mini game" by simply using it via context menu (similar to that of e. g. the tripod). Or create a consumable, say magnesia powder, like the camping supplies that allows for skipping the "mini game" and is used up in the process. I'd gladly accept either solution, if I'm in turn no longer forced to waste time and effort for something that imho has nothing at all to do with hunting in the first place. No offence meant, of course, just my two cents.
And thanks a lot for the revamp of my favourite animals in the game - the bears. Can't wait to see them in all their new glory.

Lucky you! It took me two first aid kits to put up one darned tent. Stopped trying after spending over three packs in total, it simply annoyed me too much.saldas1983 wrote:I had never had any problems with climbing mini game. Never fell once. And I simply refuse to put up four or more tents in a reserve, just to be able to move around there. I don't mind the business model behind the game, but there's a limit to everything...

I do not like climbing. I would prefer to buy a rope ladder on which to climb just without the risk of fallingTheSpecter wrote: Would be interesting btw to know whether I'm the only one loathing the climbing feature, so feedback would be welcome.
proceeds from the sale first aid kits can be increased - to make the animal more aggressive

While I have had no problem doing the mini game, I do not think it added anything to the game. It seems most that can do it easily still employ tents as there is no real challenge to the climbing, just a delay in the actual hunting in the game. The others that have problems doing it, just don't use it at all. Personally I think just deploying the ropes should allow you to use the e key to go up or down, and the mini game should be scrapped.TheSpecter wrote:Just out of curiosity, will the new reserve involve climbing? If there are some that would still want the mini game, then a toggle on/off should be added for those that do want to do it. I do think most would turn it off, and then just place ropes in every location and go about hunting which is what the game is about. As for lost sales in med kits, the higher up players go, the chance of falling is increased, so I see no loss there.
I would have no problem seeing ropes on the new reserve, just as long as the mini game was not needed.
New reserve is looking nice, and great news about the bears.
The above statements are strictly my opinion, and should not be taken as fact, even if I believe them to be true.

Re: Status Update 25th August 2016
Sounds like great improvements are arriving, and a great new reserve.
If it comes to improving also existing animals, I am a huge, huge supporter. I have asked for many things in that respect already, and I truly think that the invested time for EW would not be lost in any single case, as the people which play this game do care about the animal quality a lot. After all, this - together with the ultra-realistic landscapes - is at the heart of this title.
Getting rid of the "plastic bears" is a very good start, but I also agree that some other animals (yes, turkey is one of them) would profit from that as well. I e.g. still could cry if I see the plump, short-necked female red deer and female elks we have, and I could cry twice if I see the toilet-brush-like racks of the big red deer bulls (interestingly, all EW's official public pics with a red deer consistently show only bulls with medium-sized antlers - so they obviously know very well about the problem...)

And it seems so easily fixable. Just drecrese the spawn chance for >180 scores to 0 and change the spawn chance of the remaining <180 scoring ones accordingly.MonacoSteve wrote:Sounds like great improvements are arriving, and a great new reserve.

But if you look at steam their official trailer of the game has lots of female moose in it one of the most boring animals we have. So maybe they want to show stuff a new player can reasonably find within his first few days?
Oh also an animal that could look a lot better: Moose!
