Bantengs different fur variations
Since some people have problem telling the different color variations apart on Banteng - which ones are rare, and which ones are not, here is a collection of trophy shots to help out a little. (NB! my list may not be complete)
First, like the feral goat, there are currently several colors considered to be common:
1. The "tricolor"(anyone got a better name for this colormix?) which is also seen on the icon
https://www.thehunter.com/#profile/vill ... /589000870
2. The "gold" or "yellow":

3. The "grey"(white-ish legs, around the muzzle and I think they have a whit-ish as* as well, but grey body color, not as black-ish like the "dark"):

Secondly, there is only one "official" fur variation, the "dark"(unlike the "grey" it has a black-ish color and no white around the muzzle. It has white-ish legs and some white inside its ears. Not sure about the as* on this variation):
https://www.thehunter.com/#profile/vill ... /588448571
Lastly, it's two types of skins considered rare, the "melanistic" and the "albino". Don't have an albino to show, but I'm sure you understand what they look like anyway.
The melanistic is unlike the dark, completely black all over. No white legs, no white inside ears, nada. You might detect a small difference in shade on the legs, but only at very close range:

Hope this can help some of you out.

Re: Bantengs different fur variations
I've read somewhere, that IRL this coloration is highly correlated to gender and maturity. I'm not sure, how reliable those info was, though. But mature bulls are supposed to be "gray" or "dark", as Villkatta called them. Young bulls, and cows are supposed to be "gold", or "tricolor". If this all is true, would be nice if this would work same way in the game, instead of full randomness.
Still, definitely my favorite bovines in the game. I hope in upcoming week our devs will solve most of current problems with PB, because I would like to go back there for them (I know I can now too, but I want this problems to be solved first).

Re: Bantengs different fur variations
Very nice! It is difficult to really understand what is common or a fur variation when the wiki only shows the one. I have recently run into a similar problem with the grey wolves while doing the missions. The current one I am on wants a heart shot with the .270 on an unspooked male 'dark grey' wolf. I went to the wiki for verification, and it really only shows the common light grey with dark scruff, the melanistic, albino and leucistic. When they say dark grey, do they mean the blackish wolves with white on their undersides?
This mission is gonna be hard enough for me trying to get a heart shot, since their heart is so small, I'd rather not put all my effort into going after the wrong color.

Your assumption is correct, Stella. It's the dark one with white on their undersides. To get the heart shot, call wolves to under your tree stand. (I think that mission requires a male only, not sure) Sooner or later you will get one as described. Stand up so you can shoot straight down. You want to aim just a smidge behind the shoulders, right in the middle of the back. Should get heart every time.Stella94 wrote:Very nice! Re: Bantengs different fur variations
I believe I've shot the correct color now, and hopefully it's a heart shot since it dropped...but I can't pick it up? I'm gonna try running out of render and then back to it, but it's not giving me the option to harvest it currently. Never actually had this happen to me before.
--Edit: tried the render thing, didn't work. The wolf glitched out and I can't pick it up. My huntermate doesn't even 'ping' when I'm close to the blood or the wolf. Bummer.
--Edit 2: I've shot a second male with the .270, can't pick him up either. Shot a female with an arrow, picked her up no problem. What is going on?
--Edit 3: I started a new hunt and was able to collect my wolf and finish the mission. No idea what was up.
