Just guess, but I wonder if this fluctuation is related to the "herd" mechanic of the goats, especially because they can be in rather large herds of 10-12 I think. Bears are always individual, and hogs/boars have a maximum groups size of only five.

So the goats are bunched up more than bears and hogs, resulting in a feeder being really packed if you happened to attract a large herd that passed withing the attraction radius.
Personal Bests...

I just went out to mine, coordinates are x:3764 y:11026, 7am start time. There was only 1 at the feeder, but a group of 7-8 heading to the feeder with another smaller group of 3 leaving the feeder.

I tried your spot and got the same results you did... Great numbers the first few times and then almost nothing after that.

I setup a new spot yesterday that is getting 10+ consistently, ill post screenshots in a few hours after my tower is finished building.

considering they're meant to be more " predictable" mine is massively hit or miss. mine usualy has no goats or 1 or 2 solitary heading in, or its rammed with 20+ goats

I've been getting good results from this location. There have been about 10+ on it every time.

Re: Any good places for baiting goats?

I placed a feeder NNE of Walkabout Creek on a small hill just after the restricted placing zone of the lodge. (Don't have the coordinates right now)
Every hunt there are one to two goats present. Also at least one herd is in the vicinity. Don't know exactly if they are moving towards the feeder or if it's just a coincident in the last three hunts.

Nevertheless the feeder is always surrounded by a lot of goat tracks. What I figured out is, that the goats not staying that long. They go there, move around a little bit and move on. Didn't have the patience to watch them for long if they will continue to come back - the finger on the trigger was to nervous...
