Tutorial of the Week!

I will be giving a short tutorial for small-medium game animals each week. This is to give new community members an idea on how to hunt tricky animals. Please comment below for questions and submissions for next animals.

This week I will tell you how to hunt rock ptarmigan!
1. Travel to a tent or try climbing to get into the rocky terrain (either far North or Far south)
2. walk around until you either spot or ID a call on huntermate
3. fire shotgun into air to spook them (try to get them to go all in one direction)
4. deploy either a waterfowl blind or a tripod where the last were (if you dont have either then LAY on a large rock)
5. listen for them to fly back, let 2 land and shoot the last one in
6. repeat steps 4-5

You can kill as many as 20 birds in 30 minutes doing this, so have fun!
to elaborate on step 4, the birds will fly back to you nearly as soon as you sit down, if not wait 3 minutes, and if not again, find a new flock

Hi. Thanks for the tutorial.
But, in step 3(fire shotgun into air...). Why you don't press F to whistle? You will lose extra ammo for every flock you see!

answer: "f" has a shorter sound range than a shotgun blast and for some reason when you press "f" (sometimes) they just move to another location and don't come back. plus you only do this once so you are only using one bullet because u dont have to move to another flock until u have killed hem all off

usually u are only using 20 shells for one flock (5 missers, 1 spooker, 14 killers)
