Those are incredible photos! The elk rut here is winding down, but I managed to get out a few evenings and watch them rutting in some clear cuts. I didn't take any photos, and I can guarentee that they would be nothing like these if I did.
There isn't a sound in the world that can compare with bugling bulls. :)

Thanks guy, I appreciate the comments. @InstintiveArcher, you're right, there is nothing in the world like bugling bulls. They only came out of the river in early morning, late evening, except for one exception, but you could hear the bugling all day. We were listening to the bugling & then jumping back in the truck to catch up to them & we caught them just right coming in to the fields. The bull action was just hot, with constant fighting going on. The only negative is that I was using a rented lens for the day...I could drive back to these any time (only 45 mins away) but I wouldn't have that nice 600mm lens to shoot with. That makes all the difference in the world.

Fantastic pictures, Hawkeye!

Hunting or at least seeing Elk in the rut is way up high on my bucket list. I have to disagree with one thing, though. There is one thing in the world as good as bugling bulls: roaring Red Stags! We need an exchange program for hunters! ;)
