Your real life hunting weapons

Post by sealie »

Hello everyone,

I don't know how popular this would be, but I'll give it a shot anyway. From the very beginning of signing up here, I've gotten the impression that many of you are real life hunters. I'm on many other Hunting/Outdoors forums where there always seems to be a thread where people post pictures of their real life weapons. I've made mine 700px in width, if someone want to make them the same size.

So here we go! Post your pictures of your real life weapons and other interesting hunting accessories!

My apologies and regrets if this topic is malplaced, but I couldn't find any other place suitable :-(

Here are my three little girls:

This is my Schultz & Larsen Classic-DL in 6,5x55mm. I use this baby on everything from ptarmigan to moose (not yet) Equipped with a Leupold VX-II 3-9x50 scope. The barrel is interchangeable with every caliber that matches the base measurements of the 6,5x55 cartridge.

This is my CZ 455 Thumbhole Laminated Varmint in .22LR, and also my latest contribution to the weapon safe. Fitted with a Harris copy bipod (I know I'm cheap..) and a Bushnell Sportsmann 3-9x40mm scope (cheap again, I know...) I plan on getting the .17HMR barrel as well, as this barrel is interchangeable as well (with .17HMR barrels as well as .22WMR)

I had to dig my blog to find a reasonable picture of my last gun, my Lanber Gyttorp Lux 12/76 shotgun. I will replace the picture with a better one the next time I have my camera handy and my weapon safe open.

I hope that kicked some spark to this thread! Come on, post, post!

Really nice Einfield there, steveharris. I'm also a fan of older warfare rifles, but I haven't gotten around to buy one yet. The most popular one up here is the Norwegian Kraag-Jørgensen, or old Mausers :-)

Got too much to name all. But I can only tell you what is the gun on my avatar: Beretta Ultrawood limited edition over under. Only 50 or 100 of these were sold in Canada. I never managed to find this gun on the Beretta website though.

I've got some 30-odd firearms, so I'll just post the more notable ones:

-1893 L.C. Smith double barrel (damascus steel, dual triggers, hammerless)
-1943 Springfield M-1 Garand (numbers matching, matching '43 Union Fork & Hoe spearpoint bayonet)
-Mossberg 590 Riot (ghost ring sights, vented handguard, 8-shot capacity, bayonet lug)
-AK-47
-Custom Remington 700 .243 (blueprinted, custom aluminum stock, J-P muzzle brake, helical fluting on bolt w/tactical knob, Nightforce 56mm NP-RR1 illuminated reticle, shoots 1/4 MOA all day)
-Custom Ruger 10/22 (a near copy of one my gunsmith buddy built for Joe Montana, bead blasted & coated to give stainless look, stainless Kimber fluted match barrel, Choate stock, jewelled bolt, trigger job, silencer & threaded cap w/recessed crown)
-Winchester Model 70XT in .25-06 w/Burris Posi-Lock 32mm scope
-Ruger Redhawk stainless .44 mag w/Leupold optics
-Custom 1911 Commander .45
-Custom 1911 Gov't model converted to .400 CorBon
-H&K USP .40 Compact

Bunch of other stuff that's pretty standard - hunting rifles in .222, .308, .300WM (all Rem 700's). Shotguns in 12, 20 ga & .410. Other pistols. I also have my very first rifle that my parents bought for me when I was 2 or 3 - a Sears Roebuck single-shot bolt action .22 made for kids (it's pretty short & lightweight). I'll teach my daughter to shoot with that one. ;)

Pictured - the .243, Mossy 590, Tactical Operations Lima sniper rifle (sold it, transplanted the Nightforce scope onto the .243), pistols

LOL. Well, I grew up in a shooting/hunting family, so by default I've been bought a lot of guns while I was growing up, inherited many from my parents and one from my great grandfather (the LC Smith), but then in the early 90's my buddy got his FFL (firearms license) and from that point on he sold me everything at his cost. This, coupled with the fact that I was making good money at the time and living in a super cheap studio apartment meant that I could buy a couple of guns per month (young man's thinking, rather than spending it on paying off the car or working towards buying a house lol). I kind of went into guns-and-ammo-hoarding mode. That lasted up until around 2000, when I just had too much invested in firearms and finally figured out that I needed a lifestyle change  , so I started selling off the ones I blew a lot of money on but never really used (most of my assault collection, some custom rifles, machine pistols, etc) and whittled it down to what I have now. Then I got married a few years ago, and for some reason I just don't shoot as much anymore. It's not the wife, she certainly doesn't mind the guns and keeps saying we need to go shooting sometime. But it's one of those hobbies that has just sort of taken a backseat to life in general. Plus, the way ammo has risen in price here makes me want to hang onto it rather than use it. But my father is still an active shooter and he goes out to the range frequently, so I'll make a point of going out this year when the weather clears up. Heck, I bought that M-1 Garand back in '04 I think (I have a buddy that is a specialist in WWII builds) and I've never even shot it. Never even opened the case of .30-06 I bought for it. :?
