when walking yes, just like you character, but they dont spook animals when in laid down mode, so you can set ambush without to worry for the dog.

I actually had the dog on a blood trail for a bison that I had shot. The dog got close to the bison and it took off. I watched the dog chase after it. Yes, it did spook the other bison in the herd.

They spook the same as the hunter, walking=yes
Crouch= you cam go up to 40/50m ( depends on how dumb the animal is)
Laying down= animals can even step on the dogs without spooking
