Traditional Bow Missions
The first mission involves the Longbow, both Rabbit species and the Arctic Hare. Challenging but done.
The second mission involves the cable backed bow, which I don't own and don't wish to own. Owning two of the bows in the bundle, buying the traditional bow bundle is of no benefit for me.
Mission aborted.

Re: Traditional Bow Missions
The Triditional bow mission set was created for traditional bows not for a specific bow, I tried to include each of the traditional bows. Hunters will need all of the traditional bows to complete the set. This set of missions is not for anyone who doesn't do a lot of hunting in theHunter with traditional bows.

Re: Traditional Bow Missions
Honestly I don't think missions should be designed with only a few people in mind, i.e. people who do a ton of bow hunting. The first bottom line goal of a mission, from a business perspective, is to be simple enough to appeal to many people, start with a weapon many people will own, and fun enough that it encourages those people (especially those who might not have purchased a bow otherwise) to purchase the next needed weapon in the store.
The new trend with missions seems to be to write them as challenging as possible - I think this is a dreadful mistake if the goal is to make money. You don't want people getting so frustrated that they refuse to even try the next pack that comes out (and possibly missing another item purchase).

Re: Traditional Bow Missions
The missions are optional, no one is forced into doing them. The goal for this mission set was to make them very challenging. When designing them, we understood that not everyone would want to do them. Like I said, it's totally up to the individual whether or not to do them. For example, I will never do the blazer missions or parker missions simply because that doesn't interest me.

Re: Traditional Bow Missions
While missions certainly are optional, it is unfortunate when a mission pack actually does interest someone, like a new player, or a player who doesn't have a lot of free time, and they want to do it, but the skill barrier is so purposely high that it becomes frustrating and unrealistic to accomplish.
Am I doing a good job? I thrive on feedback! Please PM me, or my bosses Alena Rybik or Tod1d with comments, criticisms, or accolades!

Re: Traditional Bow Missions
I want to complete these missions, the first one was great. I just don't wish to buy a bow I have no interest in. I've got the Longbow and the Recurve and have just bought the excellent looking Heavy Recurve after seeing Ron's video. Top work Instinctive Archer. The same video also confirmed the Cable Backed bow isn't for me. I understand how specific weapons are part of the mission structure and long may it be so, with more complexity as they develop, just sorry to miss out on the remainder.

That's true. I asked some friends and no-one of them will play the missions.TundraPuppy wrote:While missions certainly are optional, it is unfortunate when a mission pack actually does interest someone, like a new player, or a player who doesn't have a lot of free time, and they want to do it, but the skill barrier is so purposely high that it becomes frustrating and unrealistic to accomplish.

Re: Traditional Bow Missions
The only bird mission I have ever, or will ever do is the Turkey missions. I really hated each of the pheasant missions that I attempted enough that I will never even attempt any of the waterfowl missions. As Instinctive said, the missions are optional. There are many mission sets listed on the mission page that are geared toward a certain weapon or weapon manufacturer, there is even a set for aimpoint sights so I believe a bow mission set isn't that different or odd. No one is being forced to do the bow missions, no one is being forced to purchase any of the bows but if, like me, you like bow hunting and if, again like me, you already own every single bow in the game no matter how much you dislike using many of them, then you will like having a traditional bow mission set.
The bottom line in creating these missions was not generating more cash, Neither InstinctiveArcher nor I work for theHunter or gained a single coin for working on this project. I imagine InstinctiveArcher built the original bow out of love of building bows and his love of bow hunting, I hellped with the missions because I wanted to add to the community as well as help to create the mission set that I would want to do.
The statement you read before ever accepting the first missions lets the player know that this is a set of missions that require the player to hunt with a triditional bow and stalk their prey without using blinds, tree stands or towers. The skill level is set high but not so that people are pushed away, it's set high because it takes a higher skill level to stalk and harvest an animal from within 25 meters that it does to lay prone and shoot them with a rifle from 80 meters out.
The fact is that we can post that we enjoy playing theHunter and someone will complain about how much they hate theHunter. We can't please everyone so my goal in writing the missions that I wrote was to write something that I believe bow hunters would like. Apparently, the folks at theHunter liked the missions that we came up with enough to include them with the release of the Heavy Recurve, I'm sure they made a few changes in our original set and so I am going to play the missions to see what changed they made, I just hope a few other bow hunters have as much fun doing them as I had working on them.
Please don't feel as if I am singleing out anyone or attacking any of the posts made here. I am posting because I feel the need to defend the work that I did and to explain the thought and reasoning behind it. The Traditional Bow Missions are not for everyone, they are progressivly harder and they require a person to own each of the traditional bows, if this discription fits you, enjoy the new missions.
